Richard's Testimonial:

In late 2004, I had a vision. The Lord spoke to me clearly. He said, "You must trust ME"...your purpose IS to help people...you must teach the addicted and the afflicted MY ways...a house of prayer...it shall be called JOSHUA HOUSE".

I began to read the book of Joshua. Joshua had been a slave too. He was wa;lking and assisting Moses for many years; following in his footsteps---an understudy of sorts. Moses knew the Lord face to face. Joshua needed encouragement and love. Eventually he became successor to Moses after his death. Joshua became a leader of Israel.

"Joshua" means "Yahweh saves". Another name for Jesus is Yahweh.

I wish to share this message with addicts from all walks of life, that if you believe in God and His Son, Jesus Christ, and are willing to follow His direction for your life and His commandments (to live a righteous life) you WILL recover. "Be bold, be strong" (Joshua 1:9) is assurance of His care and protection, of His presence and a call to obey His law. We read "Only be strong and very courageous that, you may observe to do according to all the law. This book of Law shall not depart from your mouth....we must meditate in it day and night" in Joshua 1:7 and 8. True success in life cannot occur apart from knowing and doing the will of God. "Do not be afraid nor dismayed for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9.

We currently have five men's recovery houses in and around the city of Abbotsford, B.C. Each home is able to accomodate up to 10 men. The room and board costs for each man is $550.00 per month. Everything is included with exception of personal hygiene items such as, razors, toothbrushes, combs, shaving cream, deoderant, etc.

The "Junior House" is the intake house. This is mainly where we are "hands on". Men come to us from various stages of their recovery. Some come directly from the streets - they are detoxing. Some come from other "recovery houses". Some are court-ordered to our homes and some come from other treatment centers. There is a time of assessment to see how they are doing and what they want. They usually stay at this home for up to 60 days (some longer - case by case basis).

The "Middle House" is just that. These men are either in part-time studies in school, or working part-time. They are pretty grounded in their programs and have a support team in place; they are now members of a Church. Their stay here is dependant on a few things. They may stay as long as they would like as long as they are doing well as far as their participation in their program is concerned while in residence. However, they may not work full-time from this house. If they want to do this, they must move to the senior house. All work is subject to approval, by Leadership, and based on participation and attitude.

The "Senior House" is the full-time working or schooling house. They are learning independent living while being dependant on God. Their stay is however long they need to.

All houses have many rules, rules that you and I have to follow. Rules about chores and responsibilities around homes.

They all must attend a local Church and seek membership, small church groups once a week, two other recovery related meetings such as N.A or A.A or bible studies, etc. These are all very important to recovery.

They also have a wonderful opportunity to get professional counseling from Licensed Group of Christian Counselors, which the Ministry have covered the costs of.

We, at Joshua House are committed in helping those in need, as God as instructed us to do.
